To boost generation, utility plants increasingly use single-axis trackers that rotate modules with the sun. Trackers are structurally more complex than fixed racks, demanding higher precision, corrosion resistance and anti-loosening fasteners and driving market growth.
Trackers rotate outdoors year-round. Connection bolts withstand wind vibration, requiring grade 10.9+ strength, stable preload and reliable locking. Pivot and push-rod areas use zinc-plated or dacromet bolts; desert and coastal projects use stainless steel or higher corrosion grades.
Global tracker penetration keeps rising, with large projects in Latin America, the Middle East and the US. Per-MW fastener usage is modest, but reliability is critical—a loose bolt can jam the array and cause huge losses. Owners pay a premium for quality fasteners.
Tracker makers prefer long-term suppliers with high-strength bolt production, hot-dip galvanizing and salt-spray testing. Those providing torque coefficient reports and material certificates are more competitive.
